Dr. Hall’s international recognition of leadership in research and his impressive track record as an entrepreneur was recognized when he received an invitation from the Premier of Ontario. The invitation was for the visit of The Honourable Luo Zhijun, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province, China and Delegation to participate in a signing ceremony marking the 30th Anniversary of the Ontario-Jiangsu Friendship Accord. The photograph shows Dr. Hall seated on the left of the table and Dr. Che, President of the Kechuang Investment Group signing a memorandum of understanding concerning an initial investment in D&T Photonics. Behind Dr. Hall, Premiere Wynne is standing amongst her distinguished guests and colleagues.
May 1st, 2017 Mehedi Hassan Obtains Vanier Scholarship
Congratulations to Mehedi Hassan for being honoured by the award of a Vanier Scholarship in recognition of his exceptional record and potential as a doctoral research student. The programme is highly competitive and only a few of the most gifted students receive an award each year. We are proud that a member of the PTLab was successful in this year’s competition.
1 July 2017 Dr. Trevor Hall is awarded a University Research Chair on Photonic Circuits and Integration
Professor Trevor Hall is a world-class researcher and professor whose work continues to have a major impact in the field of photonics. As the founding director of the Centre for Research for Photonics at the University of Ottawa (CRPuO), his leadership produced one of the top photonics research and training centres in Canada and internationally, as well as laid the groundwork for the Advanced Research Complex.
Hall’s research has long been dedicated to finding innovative solutions to the provision of sustainable broadband access to all, consistent with his over-arching of goal of promoting equality of opportunity while safeguarding the environment.
“In collaboration with my research team of highly qualified personnel, and Industry, our research programme will strive to generate new knowledge, while strengthening an innovative platform for teaching and learning, and realizing our vision of sustainable broadband access to all,” said Hall.
