Welcome to our website!
The Photonic Technology Laboratory was established by Professor Trevor
J. Hall in August 2002. Since then, our research has concentrated on a
unique combination of photonics and embedded systems. Why? Because, even
though "photonic" is to optical what "electronic" is to electrical; a
photonic system necessarily implies the combination of optics and
electronics (optoelectronics). Moreover, whilst 90% of the cost of a
photonic system is the optics, it still contains 90% of electronics.
Our research is wide and focused. We are supported by various national
and international institutions, funding agencies and private industries.
We thank them all.
Browse our pages to find out about our people, our infrastructure, our
projects and what we are up to in general. Selected brochures, presentations and posters are available to download.
